Address to Revolutionary Democratic Front Conference, Hyderabad, April 2012

Speech delivered on behalf of Struggle India at the First Conference of RDF on April 23, 2012

Respected President of this meeting, other comrades both sitting on the dias and those in this auditorium,

Really, when I stand before you I am immensely instilled with inspiration and I feel much honoured to be amongst you.

First of all I wish to congratulate this First Conference of the Revolutionary Democratic Front and on behalf of Struggle India, of which Porattom is a part, I extend our militant solidarity. This Conference is held in an excellent revolutionary situation not just in our country but at the global level also. But at the same time it is a complex situation also.

The world imperialist system is running through a most severe crisis since 1930s. Though capitalism is by its own nature riddled with contradictions created by overproduction, the immediate cause of the present crisis is financialisation of the imperialist system. This rejects any control. Hence all efforts to get out of this crisis through regulation and control of the financial markets and use of the surplus offered by the comparatively higher growth rates in countries like China, India and Brazil has so far not succeeded. All the efforts have turned out to be futile. It has opened up doors to more crises. And now the growth figures in China and India are also going down. It is another matter that this growth itself was always disarticulated. As we know the high figures of 9 per cent growth was accompanied by the harsh reality of 80 percent living on 20 rupees per day.

Capitalism is a dead end. The world is faced with two possibilities. Either the revolutionary exit from imperialism or a painful temporary recovery from the present crisis and thus prolonging the misery of the masses.

The imperialist bourgeoisie take advantage of the crisis to restructure imperialism at the global level and save the interests of their class. This leads to more unloading of the weight of the crisis on the workers and masses. In both the oppressed countries and imperialist countries, unemployment, job insecurity and cost of living increase. Exploitation is ratcheted up to modern forms of slavery. Workers rights are being reduced. Social achievements won through years of struggle are being erased. Factories remain closed with massive layoffs. Peasants are ruined and driven to suicide. Cuts in social expenditure and privatisation of education and health care grow. The logic of commoditisation and profit is extended even to primary goods such as water and air. Imperialism and reaction are causing catastrophic disasters in terms of ecology.

In India, all tall talk about entering the high growth path despite world economic crisis is now exposed. Now the Finance minister says that the growth rate is low because of the crisis. The Central government is in a haste to cut subsidies to the peasants and poor sections while granting concessions to monopolies. Liberalisation implemented since the 1990s turned the economy more dependent on imperialism. And this is the root cause of the present slow down. While Agni-5 is launched high, the match boxes in the huts are left damp, and can't even spark. That is our real scientific and technological situation. Real India is rotting under the poverty line. Unbridled rise in prices, increase of unemployment are the result of neo-colonial exploitation and domination. This and its internal props must be uprooted for real emancipation.

In this situation the masses throughout the world are in rebellion. The Arab spring still reverberates. In imperialist countries the youth are out on the streets. The slogan of ‘99 against 1’ resounds as a bolt from the blue.

Aware of the desperate situation they are in both the imperialist bourgeoisie and the reactionary ruling classes in the oppressed countries are unnerved. They tremble even at the very noise of leaves rustling. Under the banner of 'war on terrorism' the imperialists and reactionaries all over the world are in an unholy alliance against the struggling masses, against those who refuse to be cowed down by them.

This is the wider context of the Operation Green Hunt in our country, the war made by the Indian state against the Indian people. The people's war going on in the Central part of the country raises hope before the masses throughout the world, a new society free of exploitation is coming up there. One region of the country exists where the people rule, where imperialist TNC's and the Indian compradors are prevented from looting the valuable riches of the land. The imperialists and the Indian ruling classes can't tolerate this. They, directed by the sole super power US, mobilise to crush it. But this has led to a new polarisation. Whether for or against, Maoism, the Maoist movement, has become a topic of discussion. The war on the people and the resistance against it has become a dividing line.

The Indian ruling classes tried to divert and diffuse this by blowing up the Anna Hazare movement. But that hasn't given them the results they expected. Yet we cannot be complacent. We must seize this opportunity. We must regain whatever space was taken up by the Hazare movement. We must build barricades and strengthen resistance against the state's repressive anti-people policies and human rights violations. We must play our role in realising the truth of the words, “all roads lead to communism”.

We support the war of the people for their liberation. That is a just war. It is a war for a new society, a new world. We support all the rebellions taking place all over the world. They are just and necessary.

I have already spoken about the unholy alliance of the people's enemies. We too must unite. Despite the excellent situation worldwide, the people's forces, their subjective strength, is still weak. Take India, the unity of all genuine revolutionary forces is yet to be completed. The unity of all fighting resistance movements is yet to be fulfilled. We think that this unity is imperative. It is an urgent demand of the present situation. This is also true at the global level. The people are fighting. They need unity and scientific leadership. We support all steps conducive to this unity in India and at the global level.  Forge unity, strengthen the battle lines – this must be our battle cry.

Indian Army, Get out of Bastar!
Resist Operation Green Hunt, Defeat the War on the People!
Hail the new society emerging in the fighting zones of India!
Glory to the Martyrs!
Let us make revolution a mass undertaking!
Let us unite to bury the human-eating system!
Unite with all democratic forces! Solidarity with all Fighting forces throughout the world!
Death to imperialism and reaction!
Without fighting revisionism there can be no fight against imperialism!

Once again, our militant solidarity and revolutionary salutes to this conference!
Lal Salam!
